PACUARE NATURE RESERVE

Saving the Caribbean's Wildlife

Turtle Protection, Endangered Wildlife Trust

The PACUARE NATURE RESERVE was established by the Endangered Wildlife Trust, a British registered charity, in 1989 and now encompasses 1000 hectares of tropical rainforest on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica.

It has the most important beach in Costa Rica for the critically endangered Leatherback turtle, which we protect from poachers throughout the season.

Recently, 3 more Leatherback turtle projects were started near Bocas in neighbouring Panama where the need for protection is even greater.

We have active visitor programmes for both the Pacuare and Panama beaches. Please click on Costa Rica and Panama to the left to find out more, or click on Latest news for our news items.
