GETTING THERE
To come by hired car or chauffeur drive is very expensive. The bus from San José to Matina is a fraction of the cost and almost as quick. There are direct comfortable buses to Matina (stopping briefly at nearly Bataan) from Caribeño bus station in central San José at 0900 and at midday, arriving 2 1/2 hours later at Matina.

There you take a taxi (often a pick-up) for a few dollars through the banana plantations to the collection point (known as the “alcantarilla”) on the canal for the 20 minute ride along the canal to the Reserve.

Tell us which bus you are catching and we will collect you at the alcantarilla but be sure to notify us in good time of any change in arrival time- Tel: Mon-Fri (506) 22345890, Weekends: 87187930,    Reserve: 88415388 / Danilo 83087277.

Similarly from Limón there are direct buses to Matina leaving from behind PALI supermarket.

Alternatively, visitors can drive to the landing stage where their vehicle can be safely left for the duration of their stay.
